I have been a tutor since 2001. I am college-educated in English and Philosophy at Hunter College in New York City. I also have an internationally-recognized certification for teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL).
My teaching method is practical and customized for each student. Depending on the student's age, interests, and level of proficiency in English, I use beginning, intermediate, or advanced texts and grammar books, which I provide. I also like to use articles from magazines and newspapers, as well as advertisements, to rapidly build vocabulary, knowledge of slang and idioms, and cultural awareness. Activities include use of video and music that match the student's interests. Also, I provide homework activities at each lesson and even create customized online quizzes that students can use for practice between lessons. This flexible approach keeps students interested and engaged.
